SAC 17th Annual Member Artists Show
Who Will Win the People's Choice Awards? 


Nearly 80 SAC member artists are participating in the Shiawassee Arts Center's 17th Annual Member Artists Show on display now through June 15. Visitors to the exhibit are able to vote for their favorite works in the non-juried show. Artists with the most votes in six different categories at the end of the show will each receive a $100 People's Choice Award. The show is sponsored by Owosso Graphic Arts. The reception to meet the artists, enjoy music and refreshments is Sunday, April 27, 2-4pm and is free and open to the public. During the reception visitors will receive 20% off one featured show purchase.

The Shiawassee Arts Center is located at 206 Curwood Castle Drive in Owosso and is open Tuesday through Sunday, 1-5pm. The Arts Center features the artwork of local and statewide artists in eight galleries including the Frieseke Gallery and a specialty Gift Shop. The public is welcome and there is no admission charge. The Shiawassee Arts Council, celebrating its 42nd anniversary in 2014, is a non-profit corporation whose mission is to encourage participation and appreciation of the arts. Special Concert at Wrought Iron Grill



Support live music in Owosso with two of the area's best live bands, The Shizz and The Dirt Surfers. They are donating their talents to put on a special concert at the Wrought Iron Grill this Saturday, May 3, at 8 PM. All of the money raised from ticket sales ($10 ea) will go to support the Amphitheater. Tickets will be available at the door. Win $$$ in a 50/50 drawing or win an award winning mounted photograph. Food and drinks will be made available by the WIG, who are donating their space for this event.

SAC 2014 Scholarship Show

The Shiawassee Arts Council awarded $2,000 in scholarships to 23 students from eight area high schools at the 42nd Annual SAC Scholarship Competition and Exhibition held last Saturday at the Shiawassee Arts Center. A total of 78 students from Owosso, Corunna, Chesaning, Durand, Morrice, New Lothrop, Perry and Spring Vale Academy schools participated in the show. 

A $100 Award given by Bob Wilcox in honor of Karen Friday was given to Morrice senior, Brittany Wilson.
