Children's Holiday at the Shiawassee Arts Center
Children's Holiday at the Center
Children, pre-school through elementary age, and their parents are invited to a free holiday event at the Shiawassee Arts Center, Sunday, December 8, 2-4pm. There are many activities planned including make and take holiday projects plus face painting by Susan Newcom and Shance Sovis. Refreshments will be offered along with a Jingle Jam by Olivia Arend and Zach Rowden on the piano, Ben Wallace playing viola and William Wallace playing violin. Santa will make a visit from 2:30-3:30pm and the Children's Gingerbread House creations from the Saturday SAC Art Classes will be on display. This children's event is sponsored by Dr. & Mrs. Edgar Brown. Also, there will be additional activities going on within Curwood Castle Park during the afternoon. Curwood Castle, Comstock Cabin and the Woodard Paymaster Building will be decorated for the holidays.
The Arts Center, located next to Curwood Castle, is celebrating the 25th Annual Holiday at the Center, which is sponsored by Memorial Healthcare. Over 70 artists are displaying and selling their original artwork creative gift items and holiday decorations through December 29. There are affordable and unique gift items in SAC's Gift Shop and a silent auction of over two dozen items. The public is welcome and there is no admission charge. SAC is open through the holidays Tuesday through Sunday, noon - 5pm. The Shiawassee Arts Council, celebrating its 41st anniversary in 2013, is a non-profit organization whose mission is to encourage participation and appreciation of the arts.
